Just finished roasting some chestnuts.

Just finished roasting some chestnuts. The fact that they were done was signalled not by the end of the cooking time, but the two dull thuds as a couple exploded. After a suitable cooling period however they have shelled beautifully and taste divine.
Chestnuts rock, fact.

  1. They taste great. But I also know how they smell when I pass by the vendors rosting them in NYC.
    Not sure if I'd want that smell in my house... lol...

  2. No comment on the vendors technique but they smell as they taste in our oven at least (even the detonated ones) :-)

  3. lol... Then I'll have to give it a try. My girlfriend has roasted cashews before. Never tried roasting chestnuts.
