Stinging shins, aching calves, burning thighs and a huge hunger and thirst... I must have been riding my bike! Enjoyed it too even if it was properly hard work after the minimal riding recently but really good to be back out.

Yay! Haha. Glad you got out for a ride & enjoyed it after a bit of a warm up. Hope it wasn't too hot & humid for you? It was pretty bad yesterday.
ReplyDeleteManaged to get burned at the weekend so was looking forward to todays overcast conditions to protect me, skys cleared just in time though... So yea, too hot, but not too humid.
ReplyDeleteReminded me how little I like synthetic cycling vests though. Usually wear merino now as it is less anti-social afterwards but went synthetic for a cooler ride. Man that top is unpleasant after a ride. At least the smell is on the t-shirt, so it is easy to get rid...
The heat can make for an uncomfortable ride, depending on what kind of heat it is. Wearing a Camelbak doesn't help either. Proper sweat fest yesterday, all better than the wind & rain though.
ReplyDeleteNot sure I've heard of "Merino" before?
Forgot you recently had a baby so even more of a reason to enjoy it while you can. I hope the baby's doing well?
Well done Chris Auton if it was anything like my ride last night it was hard work in the heat!
ReplyDeleteBeen riding with a bottle on te bike and tools in pockets to take weight off, it's liberating, but will make big rides with a pack feel pretty weighty I am sure. Merino is just a kind of wool with some natural "don't '" powers. Feels nice and really seems to work! Can wear it for a few rides without it really starting to smell, at worst it is a little musty when wet (that was experimenting by the way, I do normally wash clothes :-) )
ReplyDeleteAnd yes Rick Horsfield , the little one (and the old little one) are both doing fine, proper little joys in fact :-)
Steve Webb last night would have been a nightmare here as well, I much rather getting soaked with nice fresh rain than stew in my own juices (merino testing notwithstanding). When the sweat is dripping onto the inside of my glasses and stinging my eyes I can tell it is getting a bit hot!
