Back at the end of summer the first night handing was a slightly chilly, but pretty comfy night. Having the backup of being able to bale out into the campervan want required though. The huge 4x3 tarp made a good base for us all over the weekend. Underquilt and a sleeping bag that isn't 25 years old and I'm golden :-)
My plan is to have the tarp virtually as a tent when we are actually camping out but there were 4 adults and 2 little ones to huddle round the fire in an evening, hence the somewhat extended cover :-) There was also no risk of rain so I wasn't too concerned with the lack of runoff. Do want either an underquilt or more substantial camping may than the one I have... and a sleeping bag I didn't get for my 18th birthday...
I keep the tarp closer to the hammock in spring and fall to trap more heat and use s 3/4 length thermarest. Much cozier!

Yeah I recently upgraded my sleeping bag for the same reason ;) Those extended covers are awesome. Mine isn't quite that big but I wish it was.
