What "fabulous" news, Formula 1 only half on the BBC from next year and Sky say "We will give F1 the full Sky Sports treatment with a commitment to each race never seen before on UK television." Bet they still fill it with bloody adverts though... Not that happy...

  1. Yeah, I can't see the "fabulous" side of it either. Proper resurgence of popularity in f1, mostly thanks to bbc coverage. Would imagine viewing figures dropping

  2. Not sure it was mostly down to BBC coverage but the rule changes that made overtaking easier and racing more exciting. That said F1 does lend it's self to an advert free broadcast. Will the Sky broadcasts be peppered with adverts or just before and after the race? And will they have to delay the start until the adverts have finished like the Premiership?

  3. I should point out that I don't have a TV licence so really I couldn't give a monkeys who shows F1. I still won't be watching it, well not live anyway.

  4. Agreed the improved racing will have helped, a lot. But the coverage was better right from the off after ITV handed it over... Looks like at least half of next years viewing will not be live here as well.

  5. Yeah, new rules have worked well. I was comparing BBC to previous ITV efforts which for my money were massively better. Mind you, any show that uses "The Chain" would probably grab my attention.
